Dereliction - Xeno-Horde Roguelike: Sept 5th Gameplay Update

Salt and I have been working really hard towards getting this demo out as quickly as possible, and soon we’re looking forward to putting it out. It goes well, we’re really looking forward to seeing people playing it soon. We’re looking for feedback on how it feels and plays. Any and all of those would be very much appreciated. We want to make this game a as fun and well rounded experience for possible!

We’ve been focusing on polishing and finalizing everything mostly, and fixing bugs along the way. We’ve been adding lots of art pieces to make the rooms feel a lot less empty and to make sure each floor has a theme for all of the rooms. So far there’s the office entrance theme, industrial, and medical.

The bugs were running with some weird errors that took us awhile to figure out. They’re all almost completely fixed, just a few minor things left to figure out. They run a lot smoother now and are challenging to fight. Best not to underestimate them like I do in my testing. They sneak behind the player well, the swarm follows the noises made by the player very well, and I’m very much looking forward to seeing what play styles people will come up with to combat these challenges!

We have a new Ai ally in the game now, she’s still got some work yet to be done on her but we’re really looking forward to showing her off! Her name is Vanth, she’s your light source and guide through this desolate place. That’s the only feature we’ve done of her kit so far, but she’ll have many more features in the foreseeable future. Stay posted for updates on her progress!

The levels are now loading and unloading correctly for the most part, errors are not fun, but we’re gonna keep on plugging along!

There’s a shop at the beginning of every floor you descend to now. You can save up your money for the next floors shop or spend it on the floor you’re currently on, and every floor beaten the player gets enough for 2  upgrades automatically.

Lots of work is has been done on balancing and on the upgrade system. We’re steadily building upgrades for the shop and the item rooms. The item rooms can have the option of a gun with some supply chests alongside it, or four upgrade chests. All of which require explosive "keys" to gain access too though.

Salt_ and I are feeling very good about how all of this is going, and we’re going to continue working hard to get this demo out to everyone as soon as possible. It’s just me and salt working on this project, so from the bottom of our hearts we really appreciate all of the feedback, patience and understanding from you all. We will keep everyone posted as progress continues.
